2-Hour Game of Thrones Doc To Be Released

Game of Thrones will be over on May 19th, and we miss it already. But never fear -- HBO has already announced that they will be airing a two-hour making-of documentary on May 26th, exactly one week later, to help us lick the wound. So grab your Hand of the King bottle opener, a bottle of mead, and your drinking horn and prepare to bid farewell.

Game of Thrones: The Last Watch was directed by Jeanie Finlay (pictured above), who is known for directing documentaries Seahorse, Orion: The Man Who Would Be KingThe Great Hip Hop Hoax, and Sound It Out. 

Showrunners gave Finlay full-access to the shooting of the final season.  Cast and crew are slated to recall all the tales, tears, and torment of making Season 8. Stories will include encounters the show's discriminate and meticulous fandom, shooting in dangerous weather conditions, and the cast and crew's final goodbyes to this decade-long production.

Glimmer Films produced the film for HBO. Executive producers are David Benioff. D.B. Weiss, Bernadette Caulfield, with Jeanie Finlay, Rachel Hooper and Martin Mahon producing and Alice Powell producing.

Game of Thrones: Last Watch debuts Sunday, May 26 at 9 pm ET/PT on HBO, HBO NOW, HBO GO, HBO On Demand.

If this last bite won't satisfy you though, never fear: casting is already beginning for a new Game of Thrones series, a prequel which will star Naomi Watts, Jonathan Whitehouse, and Jamie Campell Bower (and among others).Campbell Bower was in the original pilot for Game of Thrones, but was replaced when he took on bigger projects.
